Hi everyone =)

Well, a couple of weeks ago, we were invited to dinner by some friends of ours and I decided to make my plant cake for dessert. Now I know what you are thinking…plant cake?….yes, it’s basically a cake or any dessert that you fill in a plastic plant pot to resemble a plant! It’s always been a hit and your hostess will no doubt think you are presenting her with a plant, hence, she will smell the flowers and want to put the plant outside or somewhere in the house! And the best part is that it’s so easy to make and so funny to present! Everyone will laugh! So how do you do this…..well, let me show you……

Supplies

-A clean, plastic flower or plant pot with it’s drip tray

-A garden trowel (used only for serving the cake, and stays in the kitchen!)

-An artificial floral bouquet (preferably all one piece, not individual stems)

-Ingredients to make your cake, trifle, or anything else that will sit well in the pot.

Procedure

Since my nutella tiramisu seems to be such a hit with my husband, I used that as my “cake”. However, you can make any dessert really, just as long as it doesn’t require placing the plastic pot in the oven (obviously!). So cold desserts are the way to go.

Here I started assembling my nutella tiramisu

Once I finished layering my tiramisu, I added dark chocolate cocoa to resemble dirt!

Place the pot in the fridge until ready to serve. I then wrapped the stem of my bouquet with cling wrap (to keep it clean) and inserted the bouquet in the center of the cake right before serving. (Note: If you are transporting the plant cake, insert the stem before leaving the car when you arrive to your destination as you don’t want the bouquet wobbling along and creating a huge hole with the motion of the car) And that’s it! You are now ready to serve it using a garden trowel!

Be sure to bring your camera! You will get a lot of happy looks.

Happy plant cake making!
