Knowing a bit about me would not be complete without knowing what I believe…..
I am a born again Christian who accepted the Lord at the age of 13. While still in California, I attended Shadow Mountain Community Church (check out shadowmountain.org and also enjoy listening to In Touch Ministries (Dr. Charles Stanley, Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Atlanta, GA). If you have never really understood who God is or want to know more, I encourage you to check out those ministries. I hope these wonderful ministries\websites will encourage your heart, and walk with the Lord as they have for me.
Now living in Sicily, my husband and I are active and serving in our local church, Gesù è la Via (Jesus is the Way). If ever in Sicily, let me know you are stopping by!
You know, right when you think you have your life mapped out, or maybe the opposite, you see the Hand of God at work. Sometimes, the “I would never…” is precisely the thing the Lord has planned for you. Or maybe you think God has forgotten about you? Your needs? Oh, but He hasn’t! “For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans of good and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” How precious is that? Here is God, who created everything in existence and is the One who keeps our hearts beating this very second, thinking of us! Or maybe you think your life is meaningless? Or that you look around and it’s just one discouragement after another? Well, yes, trials are a part of life, no doubt….but God promises to renew our strength, “Those that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount like eagles, run and not be weary, walk and not be faint”. Take heart, God WILL answer you and provide His perfect will and direction for your life. Do not get discouraged, do not give in, just trust Him. Everything He does is good. Reading God’s Word (the Bible) and Prayer is the key. A pastor once said, “Fight your battles on your knees and you will win every time.”
God bless you,
Wanita =)

I found your blog via Pinterest (espresso pin cushion) and had to take a peek. We lived in the Netherlands for 3.5 years, so the photos you took of the market brought back wonderful memories for me! … Somehow I got to your faith link and read it. I’m going through a trying time with my teenage son. Just wanted you to know that the Isaiah 40:31 touch me. Thank you!!! I’d appreciate prayers for Bradley and our family.
Hi Susan, reading your comment brought tears to my eyes….how the Lord works is incredible!….He knows how to speak to our hearts =) Of course we will be praying for Bradley and your family. You can count on it! Please keep me posted on how he is doing, ok? When you do, contact me via the Contacts Page so that I can reply directly to you via my personal email. God bless you and know we will be praying for your family! Hugs, Wanita =)
I stumbled upon your site through Pinterest as well when I was looking at the authentic pizza dough recipe. I recently just married my German boyfriend and moved here in Germany (from Chicago) three months ago to be with him. There’s been a lot of adjustment to do and learning the language. The posts from your site has been very encouraging for me. I hope to serve God here as well. God bless~
Hi Shelami! Thank you for taking the time to write! I totally understand the adjustment you are talking about….it wasn’t easy for me at the beginning not knowing a word of Italian and finding myself for the first time in my life newly married into an Italian family, in a new country, with a completely different mentality and language. But take it from me, it DOES get easier with the passing of time. The Lord will provide the strength and support you need and your patience will grow =D But better than that, you will become a new person having not one, but TWO cultures and places that you will eventually call home =) Keep me posted on how you are doing, Ok? Remember, I’m not too far way if you need to talk! *Hugs*
Hi! I also found you through pinterest, and wanted to tell you how jealous I am!!! Haha! I lived in Sicily for five years while I was stationed in the Navy there. I had my first baby there and consider him my most prized souvenir from Sicily. I miss it there every day of my life and wish I could get back and show my family that beautiful and amazing island! For now though, I’ll just live vicariously through you! I’m so glad I found your site!!!!
Hi Fiona! I am so touched by your words! Thanks so much! And yes, I consider it a tremendous blessing to be married to the wonderful husband I have and living a wonderfully calm and simple life. We just found out we are expecting our first child and and am thankful this child will be able to know two cultures he will call home (Sicily and the USA). Thank you for having served our country and I hope you can one day return and visit Sicily! Until then, I’m thrilled to be able to share my experiences with you! Dio ti benedica! (God bless you!)
